Boston & New York’s First Hanukkah Pop-Up
Maccabee Bar was started in 2018 by award-winning bartender Naomi Levy when she saw a huge gap in the holiday market. “I love Christmas and all of the Christmas bars that pop up this time of year,” says Levy. “But I always felt like a tourist. There was never really anything for someone like me that wasn’t raised with Christmas.” She chose to share her own Jewish heritage with her community by offering up a space that celebrates Hanukkah and Jewish culture in a welcoming space. Maccabee Bar is meant for anyone who wants to experience a different side of the holidays, whether you grew up celebrating Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanza or anything else. Bars that host a Maccabee Bar pop-up are transformed into a Hanukkah wonderland with special decor, specially themed cocktails and traditional bites. Offerings change every year but there will always be Latkes and lots of Chutzpah!
